Do I need a Passport?

You will need a passport that is valid for 6 months after the end of your trip (September 4, 2024). You will need at least 2 empty pages in your passport.

Do I need a Visa?

You will need a visa to travel in Egypt, but Guardian Travel handles all that for us, if you are an American or Canadian citizen. If you have a passport from another country, please let us know as soon as possible so that necessary visa arrangements can be made.

What does double occupancy mean?

Double occupancy means the pricing is based on 2 people in each room. If you need a roommate, please let us know, and we will do our best to connect you with another person who needs a roommate. Otherwise, you can do the Single Supplement, which means you have your own private room in the hotels and on the cruise ship.

Do I need any Vaccinations?

No vaccinations of any kind are required (including COVID). As of June, 2022, Egypt has eliminated all COVID restrictions -- no testing is required, no masks are required.

How do we get to Egypt and get around in Egypt?

The group will meet in New York (JFK) on Monday, March 4, 2024, and fly non-stop overnight to Cairo.  We’ll have 4 flights within Egypt (Cairo to Luxor, Aswan to Abu Simbel, Abu Simbel to Aswan and Aswan to Cairo). Our 5-day Nile Cruise (on our beautiful 5-star cruise ship!) travels from Luxor to Aswan.

What's the Weather Like?

Since 2010, we’ve always gone to Egypt at this time of year because the weather is perfect! I’ve been to Egypt in May (too hot!), October (nice in Cairo, but too hot in Southern Egypt) and discovered that February and March is perfect, because it’s warm in Cairo (usually 65-70 degrees F) and nice and warm in Southern Egypt (75-80 F) for our 5-day Nile Cruise. Occasionally, there is gentle rain in Cairo and it can be chilly at night, so bring layers.

We take care of everything

One of the things that is so wonderful about this trip is that we take care of everything for you. Debra has been taking groups to Egypt each year since 2004 and this trip is perfect! We see all the must see places, we see places the average tourist doesn’t go to, staying in 5-star hotels, our fabulous Nile cruise, wonderful food, traveling with other like-minded adventurers, amazing ceremonies and every day beautifully planned.

Queen Nefertari was the favorite wife of Ramses II, the powerful Pharaoh who ruled Egypt for over 60 years and her tomb reflects that love. Many people call her tomb the Sistine Chapel of Ancient Egypt. The tomb was restored to its original glory by a 7 year project of the Getty Conservation Institute, with artisans using original paint and colors. It was opened in 1995 and stayed open for 11 years with restricted access and then closed again because of damage that was happening.

We are so lucky that the Egyptian Antiquities Council put new measures in place and have now restored very limited access, which will include us! I first saw the tomb in 2000 and was awestruck. After that the tomb was closed again and I thought I would never see it again. I am ecstatic to be able to bring you to this amazing place.

Seti I was the father of Ramses II and his reign was part of a Golden Age in Egypt that was continued by his son. Seti I was the Pharaoh who was in love with Om Seti (“beloved of Seti”) from the famous books about Om Seti. The tomb of Seti I is the largest of the tombs in the Valley of the Kings, and it is one of the most beautiful.

It was closed for many years for restoration and protection, and has just been reopened recently to just a few hundred visitors per day. The drawings, the colors, and the scenes depicted are absolutely spectacular. We are so lucky to be among the few to visit this sacred space.
